Musée Rodin (Hôtel Biron)
Auguste Rodin's former aristocratic mansion and sculpture rose gardens
Housed in the 18th-century rococo Hôtel Biron (1732), where Auguste Rodin lived and worked as a tenant from 1908. Rodin bequeathed his entire collection to the French nation on the condition that the mansion become his museum.
An earthly paradise of bronze and marble, where raw human emotion and metaphysical struggle emerge dynamically from living gardens.
Rodin was said to leave his clay and plaster models exposed in the gardens at night to observe how moonlight altered their muscular contours.
